Seeing the picture of the bag of molasses cookie mix brings back memories of the times that as a kid I would watch my dad make them and how he would talk about his “secret” ingredient to making those cookies. Oh, and yes, his were soooo delicious!!!!

Well, one summer day when I was a few years older, and both my parents were at work, I decided that since I had been handling the “cooking” for my sisters and myself that summer that I would surprise mom & dad and make a batch of cookies for a treat after supper!!!! Oh, it was a surprise alright!!!!!!!! They were the nastiest, most horrible tasting cookies I have ever had!!! The recipe failed because I measured and used the “secret ingredient” like you would with a similar product that is used in making the cookies from scratch. I didn’t realize that there was a difference in how much should be used between Dad’s secret ingredient and what mom used when she made scratch cookies!!!

Do you know what the secret ingredient is? The ingredient that I knew nothing about as a 9 year-old…except where my dad kept it “hidden” in the kitchen!!

And yes, now that I’m a bit older, I know how to make a great batch of molasses cookies; however, since you posted this incredible coupon for a mix, I think I’ll just use that to make cookies for the company that’s coming over later this week for supper!!!

I have no idea, Donna. My mom makes great Molasses cookies from scratch, but then again everything she cooks is yum! She has a natural talent. She never measures anything and has no recipes. I am glad it helped you out, and I hope your guests enjoy the cookies.
